Ingredients

π 1 ΒΌ tablespoons dry yeast, Fleischmann's
π¬ 2 tablespoons sugar
π§ 1 teaspoon salt
π₯ 1 egg
π§ 1 cup warm water
π³ 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
π₯ 2 tablespoons milk (for brushing)
π§ Β½ cup grated cheese
Instructions
1- Activate Yeast:
- In a clear glass mixing bowl, combine the sugar and warm water.
- Add the Fleischmann's dry yeast, stir well, and let the mixture rest in a warm place for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy and bubbly.
2- Prepare Flour Mixture:

- Create a well in the center of the flour.
3- Combine Ingredients:
- Into the well, add the whole egg and activated yeast mixture.
- Use a spoon to mix until combined.
4- Incorporate Shortening:
- Add the softened shortening or butter.
- Work the dough by hand until it becomes a compact mass.
5- Knead the Dough:
- Transfer the dough to a kitchen countertop.
- Knead it for 5 minutes using the forward and backward technique until smooth and elastic.
6- First Rising:
- Shape the kneaded dough into a ball.
- Place it back in the bowl and cover with plastic wrap or a damp cloth.
- Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
7- Portion Dough:
