Ingredients
š 1 whole carp fish, approximately 2.5 kg, cut into steaks
š· 1 glass white wine, approximately 250 ml
š« 2 coffee cups olive oil, approximately 50 ml
šØ 1 tablespoon mustard, approximately 15 ml
š§ 1-2 teaspoons salt
ā« 1 teaspoon black pepper
š¶ļø 1 teaspoon red pepper, paprika
šæ 4 bay leaves
š 1 whole lemon, half sliced, half for garnish
š§ 5-6 cloves garlic, minced
š„¬ Lettuce for garnish
Instructions
1- Preparation:
- Clean the carp thoroughly, remove scales and internal organs, rinse, and let it drain.
- Slice the cleaned carp into steaks (8-9 pieces).
2- Marinating:
- Arrange the carp steaks in a rectangular glass baking dish.
- Insert bay leaves between and beneath the fish steaks.
- In a glass mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Add the white wine and mustard, then squeeze the juice of half a lemon.
- Whisk all ingredients together until the marinade is homogeneous.
3- Baking:
- Pour the marinade evenly over the carp steaks.
- Drizzle olive oil over the fish.
- Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- Bake covered for 1 hour, allowing the flavors to meld and the fish to steam.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to brown the fish and reduce the liquid.
4- Serving:
- Arrange the cooked carp steaks on a bed of fresh lettuce.
- Garnish with lemon slices and serve immediately.
- Consider pairing with a glass of white Chardonnay and a side of boiled vegetables.
