Ingredients
🦐 400g pre-cooked, peeled, and deveined shrimp
🍋 1/2 lemon
🌿 2 tablespoons dendê oil, DaCosta
🧅 1 onion, chopped
🧄 1 garlic clove, chopped
🍅 1 tomato, chopped
🍃 2-3 tablespoons chopped cilantro
🌶️ 1 tablespoon pepper sauce, Tabasco
🧄🧂 1 tablespoon garlic/salt seasoning, Hela
🥥 1 cup (approximately 200-250 ml) coconut milk, Goya
Instructions
1- Marinate the Shrimp:
- Place the shrimp in a mixing bowl.
- Squeeze the juice from half a lemon over the shrimp.
- Let it marinate for approximately 15 minutes.
2- Prepare the Base:
- Heat a non-stick cooking pan over a medium-flame gas stovetop.
- Add the dendê oil to the pan.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, tomato, and cilantro to the pan.
- Stir with a wooden spoon.
3- Build the Flavor:
- Add the pepper sauce and garlic/salt seasoning to the pan.
- Sauté all the ingredients for about 2-3 minutes until they soften and meld together.
4- Cook the Shrimp:
- Incorporate the marinated shrimp into the sautéed mixture.
- Stir well to ensure the shrimp are fully coated with the seasoning mixture.
5- Finish the Moqueca:
- Pour the coconut milk into the pan and stir gently.
- Allow the Moqueca to cook for 8 minutes, letting the flavors meld and the sauce thicken slightly.
6- Serve:
- Garnish with additional cilantro if desired.
- Serve hot, accompanied by plain white rice.
