- Sliced black olives, for topping
- Sliced or pickled jalapeños, for topping
- Diced red onion or sliced green onion, for topping
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 7 minutes
Total Time: 17 minutes
Servings: 4-6
Equipment:
- Skillet
- Baking sheet or oven-safe dish (9x13 pan, 9x9 pan, pie plate, etc.)
- Cheese grater (if using block cheese)
- Oven
Instructions:
1. Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2. In a skillet over medium heat, crumble the ground beef and cook for approximately 8-10 minutes or until it's fully browned. Be sure to break the meat into small pieces as it cooks.
3. Once the beef is cooked, drain off any excess grease then stir in the taco seasoning. Cook this mixture for an additional 60-90 seconds to release the flavors.
4. Next, add the water and the can of refried beans to the skillet. Stir continuously over low heat until the beans and meat are thoroughly combined into a cohesive mixture. Remove from heat once combined.
5. Spread a single layer of tortilla chips on your chosen baking dish.
6. Sprinkle 2 cups of the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chips.
7. Spoon the beef and bean mixture on top of the cheese-covered chips, distributing it evenly.
8. Add the remaining 2 cups of shredded cheese on top of the beef and bean layers.
9. Place the nachos in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese has completely melted and is bubbly.
10. Take your Ultimate Beefy Nachos out of the oven and proceed to top them with your preferred toppings: sour cream, guacamole or diced avocado, salsa, cilantro, black olives, jalapeños, and red or green onions.
11. Serve immediately and enjoy the Ultimate Beefy Nachos experience!
Cooking Tips:
- For crispier chips, you can pre-toast them in the oven for 5 minutes before assembling the nachos.
- If using nacho cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese, apply sauce after the meat and bean layer and bake until warmed through.
