Ingredients
🥩 700g mixture of leftover grilled meat and chopped sausage
🫒 Olive Oil "Tradição" - a good swirl to coat the pan
🧅 1 large onion, sliced into half-moons
🍅 1 large tomato, diced
🧄 1 heaping tablespoon of crushed garlic
🍚 1.5 cups of rice, washed - approx. 250ml per cup
🧊 1 low-sodium meat bouillon cube "Knorr"
🥫 Half a packet of tomato sauce - Heinz Molho de Tomate com Pedaços Tradicional
💧 5 cups of water, heated - using the same 250ml glass for measurement
🌿 Fresh parsley, chopped - "Nativa Hortaliças"
🧂 Salt, as needed
Instructions
1- Heat the water:
- Heat the 5 cups of water in a saucepan until it is hot but not boiling.
2- Prepare the pan:
- In a large, non-stick pot, swirl olive oil "Tradição" over high heat.
3- Cook the meat:
- Add the chopped meat and sausage to the pot.
- Sauté until the sausage is browned, and the fat has rendered.
4- Cook the vegetables:
- Reduce heat to medium-low.
- Add the sliced onion and diced tomato.
- Cover the pot and cook until the vegetables are softened and slightly reduced.
5- Add garlic and tomato sauce:
- Stir in the crushed garlic.
- Add half a packet of the "Heinz" tomato sauce, creating a creamy base.
6- Add the bouillon cube:
- Crumble in the "Knorr" bouillon cube.
- Stir to integrate well.
7- Add the rice:
- Add the washed rice and mix thoroughly with the meat and vegetable mixture.
8- Add water:
- Pour the preheated 5 cups of water into the pot, ensuring all ingredients are submerged.
9- Adjust salt:
- Taste the broth and adjust the salt as necessary, keeping in mind the sausage's salt content.
10- Cover the pot:
- Cover the pot with the "Tramontina" lid but leave a small opening for steam to escape.
11- Cook the rice:
- Increase the heat to medium-high.
- Cook until the water reduces significantly and reaches almost the level of the rice.
12- Final cook:
- Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking until the rice is tender but retains some liquid to maintain a moist consistency.
13- Garnish and serve:
- Once the desired "molhadinho" consistency is achieved, turn off the heat.
- Garnish the top with freshly chopped parsley from "Nativa Hortaliças" and serve hot.

Cooking Tips
- Meat First: Cooking the meat first allows the fat to render and flavors to penetrate deeply into the dish.
- Salt Check: Due to the salty nature of sausage, always taste and adjust salt towards the end.
- Moisture Level: Aim for a final moist texture so the rice remains creamy and doesn't dry out.
