Ingredients
šæ 7 fresh chaya leaves
š Juice from 5 limes
š§ 1 liter water, 500 ml for blending, 500 ml for mixing
š 1 cup white granulated sugar
š§ Ice, quantity to taste
Instructions
1- Prepare the Chaya Leaves:
- Use generic scissors to carefully cut 7 fresh chaya leaves from the plant.
- Rinse the leaves thoroughly in a generic metal bowl filled with water, rubbing them gently to remove any dirt or debris. Set aside.
2- Make the Simple Syrup:
- In a generic white bowl, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1/4 cup of water.
- Stir with a generic metal spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved to form a simple syrup. Set aside.
3- Prepare the Lime Juice:
- Halve the 5 limes on a generic plastic white cutting board using a chef's knife with a light blue handle.
- Use a generic dark grey metal manual lime squeezer to juice the limes into the bowl containing the simple syrup or into a separate bowl. Set aside.
4- Blend the Chaya Mixture:
- Place the washed chaya leaves into a blender with a red base and clear glass pitcher.
- Add 500 ml of water to the blender pitcher.
- Secure the lid and blend until the mixture is smooth and vibrant green.
5- Strain the Mixture:
- Position a generic green plastic fine mesh strainer over a clear glass bowl or serving pitcher.
- Pour the blended chaya mixture through the strainer to remove any fibrous material.
6- Assemble the Drink:
- Add ice cubes to your serving pitcher.
- Pour the strained chaya liquid over the ice.
- Incorporate the lime juice and dissolved sugar syrup.
- Use a generic wooden or metal spoon to stir the ingredients thoroughly.
- Adjust consistency and flavor by adding the remaining 500 ml of water or additional ice as preferred.
7- Serve:
- Pour into serving glasses, optionally garnished with a chaya leaf or lime slice.
- Enjoy this refreshing, slightly tart drink immediately, chilled over ice.
