Ingredients
🍌 3 medium-sized ripe plantains yellow with extensive black spots
🛢️ Sufficient amount of Wesson Pure Canola Oil for shallow frying, approximately 2-3 cups
Instructions
1- Prepare the Plantains:
- Choose plantains that are mostly yellow with significant black patches. The skin can also be entirely black, indicating full ripeness and sweetness.
- Cut off both ends of each plantain.
- Use a small paring knife to make a shallow lengthwise slit along the outer curve of the plantain skin.
- Peel off the skin and discard.
- Slice each peeled plantain lengthwise into thin strips.
2- Heat the Oil:
- Pour the Wesson Pure Canola Oil into a grey non-stick frying pan until it is about 1-inch deep.
- Place the pan on a white gas stovetop and heat the oil over medium-low heat for about 2 minutes.
3- Fry the Plantains:
- Carefully place the sliced plantains into the hot oil, ensuring there is enough space between each piece for even frying.
- Fry the plantains for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown.
- Use a silver fork with a clear and pink handle to flip the plantains and fry the other side for another 2-3 minutes until they are caramelized and golden brown.
4- Drain and Serve:
- Remove the fried plantains from the pan and place them on white paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Arrange the fried plantains on a white rectangular serving plate and enjoy.
