🧅 1 onion, finely chopped
🥩 200g minced meat
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
🌿 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
✨ 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
🧂 Salt, with Fleur de Sel
🥚 2 eggs
🌿 A handful chopped parsley
🥔 1 boiled and mashed potato
🧀 A handful grated cheese
🧀 1/2 portion soft cheese per bourek, with The Laughing Cow
🍥 Brick pastry sheets
Instructions
1- Prepare the Filling:
- Heat 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a deep, non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Sauté the finely chopped onion until it is softened but not browned.
- Add the minced meat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Season the meat with black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, and salt, mixing well.
- Cook until the meat is browned, and no liquid remains in the pan.
- Add eggs directly into the meat mixture, season with a pinch of salt, and stir quickly.
- Turn off the heat, stir in chopped parsley, and let the filling cool completely on a plate.
2- Combine Filling Components:
- Once the filling is cooled, combine it with the mashed boiled potato and grated cheese in a glass bowl. Mix thoroughly until well-blended.
3- Assemble the Bourek:
- On a flat surface, lay out a brick pastry sheet.
- Spoon the filling onto one edge of the sheet, placing half a portion of soft cheese on top.
- Fold the sides of the sheet over the filling, and roll it tightly to form a cylinder shape.
- Repeat with the remaining sheets and filling.
4- Fry the Bourek:
- In a frying pan, heat enough oil for deep frying over medium-high heat.
- Fry the boureks until they are golden brown and crispy, turning as needed.
- Remove the boureks and drain excess oil on a plate lined with paper towels.
