Instructions
1- Prepare the Pastry Dough:
- Sieve 2 cups of Baking Emperor Cake Flour, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of Strong Better Park Curry Powder into a large PYREX mixing bowl. Mix well.
- Add butter and 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, rubbing them into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Gradually add cold ice water, mixing gently until a cohesive dough forms. Avoid overworking. Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 20 minutes.
2- Prepare the Beef Filling:
- Heat 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil in the Tefal frying pan. Add chopped spring onions and white onions, sautΓ©ing until soft.
- Add minced beef, breaking it up, and cook until it browns.
- Stir in minced garlic, ginger, thyme, curry powder, paprika, beef seasoning, and soy sauce. Mix thoroughly.
- Add ketchup, scotch bonnet pepper, and black pepper. Cook until beef is cooked through and most liquid has evaporated.
- Sprinkle plain flour over the beef; stir to thicken. Cook for 2-3 more minutes.
- Transfer filling to a sieve to drain excess grease. Allow to cool completely.
3- Assemble the Patties:
- Lightly dust a work surface with flour.
- Divide chilled dough into portions and roll each out to a thin sheet with the rolling pin.
- Cut into circles with a round object.
- Place a spoonful of beef filling on one half of each circle (place cheese on top if using).
- Brush edges with milk or egg wash, fold, and seal using fingers and a fork to crimp the edges.
- Prick the tops with a fork for steam ventilation.
- Place patties on a lined baking tray.
4- Bake the Patties:
- Preheat oven to Gas Mark 6 or 7 (165-180Β°C / 325-350Β°F).
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
