Ingredients
For the Dough:
🥛 200ml milk at room temperature
🍬 4 tablespoons sugar
🥚 2 eggs
🥛 2 tablespoons powdered milk
🧈 1 tablespoon margarine at room temperature
🌾 400g all-purpose flour, and more as needed
🍞 1 packet 10g dry active yeast
🧂 1 pinch of salt
For the Farofa (Crumble):
🌾 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
🍬 1/2 cup sugar
🧈 2 tablespoons margarine
Filling:
🍮 1 pot dulce de leche, used generously
Instructions
1- Prepare the Dough:
- Mix 200ml room temperature milk, 4 tablespoons sugar, and 1 packet 10g of dry active yeast in a large mixing bowl. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon margarine, and 2 tablespoons powdered milk. Mix well.
- Gradually incorporate 400g of all-purpose flour. As the mixture thickens, add a pinch of salt.
- Continue to add flour and mix until the dough is thick and elastic.
2- Rest the Dough:
- Grease and flour a rectangular baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Spread the sticky dough evenly in the pan using a moistened spoon.
- Cover with a dry cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size 40 minutes to 2 hours.
3- Prepare the Farofa (Crumble):
- Combine 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and 2 tablespoons margarine in a bowl.
- Mix by hand to achieve a crumbly texture. Optionally, add cinnamon.
4- Assemble and Bake:
- Create indentations on the risen dough with a spoon.
- Spoon dulce de leche into these indentations, pressing slightly.
- Evenly sprinkle the farofa mixture over the top.
- Preheat oven to 180°C 350°F. Bake for 35 minutes until golden brown.
5- Serve:
- Cool slightly before slicing and serving. Enjoy as a standalone dessert or paired with coffee or tea.
