Fluffy Homemade Bread

Ingredients

🥛 1 cup of warm milk (warmed in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds)
🍞 1 tablespoon of dry yeast
🍬 1 teaspoon of sugar
🫒 1/4 cup of olive oil
🧂 1/2 tablespoon of salt
🌾 4 cups of flour
💧 1/2 cup of warm water
🫒 1 tablespoon of oil (for the bowl)
🥚 1 egg (for egg wash)
🥄 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt (for egg wash)
🌿 White and black sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

1- Activate the Yeast:

• In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk, 1 tablespoon of dry yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Stir the mixture, cover it, and let it rest for about 10 minutes until the yeast is activated and frothy.

2- Prepare the Dough:

• Add 1/4 cup of olive oil and 1/2 tablespoon of salt to the activated yeast mixture.
• Gradually incorporate 4 cups of flour, mixing well with a spatula or your hands. Slowly add 1/2 cup of warm water as needed to bring the dough together.
• Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for several minutes until smooth and elastic.

3- First Rise:

• Lightly oil a large bowl with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Place the dough in the bowl, turning it to coat with oil.
• Cover with a heavy towel and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour or until the dough doubles in size.

4- Shape the Bread:

• Once risen, divide the dough into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a large ball and roll them out slightly.
• Line a pizza pan with parchment paper and place the dough balls on it.

5- Second Rise:

• Cover the dough balls with a towel for another 15 to 20 minutes to let them rise again.

6- Prepare Egg Wash:

• In a small bowl, mix 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt thoroughly.

7- Bake the Bread:

• Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
• Brush the top of the dough with the egg wash. Sprinkle with white and black sesame seeds if desired.
